In Nigeria today, the most trending event of the year seems to be the forthcoming official launch of Elfreeda Foundation, the CSR arm of the popular House of Freeda.

When launched on Friday, August 11, 2017 in Owerri, Imo State, Elfreeda Foundation will begin to provide a stabilizing base for homeless women and children in order to rebuild their lives as they transition back into the society. The foundation believes that every human being deserves access to the basic needs of life: food, clothing and shelter.

Prominent among their services is the Shelter project, which has 100 temporary bed facilities where the homeless women and children will be welcomed and cared for.

In preparation for the official unveiling of this special program in Imo State, the Elfreeda Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the African Youth Development Foundation (AFRYDEF), which is one of the NGOs empowering youths and women in the State.

As specialists in youth development and capacity building, the African Youth Development Foundation (AFRYDEF) will complement the efforts of Elfreeda Foundation in empowering the homeless women and their teenagers with training in ICT skills, mentoring on leadership and entrepreneurship development.

AFRYDEF shall assist the homeless women, who are also jobless with job search and placement services as well as provide those with enterprise skills access to finance from the Bank of Industry for the launch of their SMEs.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Remy Chukwunyere, the Founder of AFRYDEF had this to say… “We appreciate the management of House of Freeda for initiating this program that will enable homeless women and children in the society gain access to the basic needs of life, while efforts are being made to reconcile them with their families as well as empower them for life.

We are glad to be part of this impact-making project that is targeted at the poor and less privileged in the society. By the grace of God, we promise to do our best to ensure that the project succeeds.”
