Who We Are

African Youth Development Foundation (AFRYDEF) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization established in Nigeria in 1999 to mobilize resources and to promote and support sustainable youth empowerment
and rural development initiatives in Africa.

AFRYDEF is governed by a Board of Trustees and a Management Committee made up of widely experienced professionals representing diverse communities and interests. Our life-changing and community development programs are funded by membership contributions and public donations.

Our Mission

We have a mission to cost-effectively transform the lives of youths, women and children in the rural communities of Africa through facilitating sustainable youth and rural development initiatives.

"We envision an African society where children, youths and women in the rural areas are viewed as assets and resources, and thus encouraged to develop their full potentials"

Meet their food supplies, clothing and housing needs

Through facilitating access to formal education and skills training for children and youths respectively.

That lead to the equitable distribution of resources for accelerated development in the rural areas.

In peace building, conflict resolution and development cooperation.

At incidences of epidemic and humanitarian crises in the rural communities.

... both financial and non-financial!

Your donations, whether in cash or in kind and no matter how small, will enable us continue to provide food, clothing and take care of the needs of indigent children and adults in communities where we work.

Photo shows one Mr. Joe Okiri, who was rescued from death and rushed to the hospital for medication by our volunteers. We also paid the hospital bills and fed him for some months.

Since inception in 1999, we have successfully collaborated with a number of local, national and international organizations in the implementation of our youth empowerment and community development programs in Nigeria.

Some of the organizations that partnered with us include, USAID, UNESCO, Actionaid, Cars4Causes, Center for Peace Across Borders, Imo State Government of Nigeria, etc
